Page Healthcare to Lead Development of Vecinos Community Health Hub, Expanding Access for Uninsured and Low-Income Residents in Western NC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FRANKLIN, N.C. – July 14, 2024 – Page Healthcare, a leading real estate development firm dedicated to enhancing healthcare access and infrastructure, proudly announces its role as the lead developer and project manager for the new Vecinos Community Health Hub in Franklin, North Carolina. This landmark $8.6 million initiative, spearheaded by Vecinos, a free and charitable clinic, will consolidate multiple health and social services under one roof, significantly benefiting the region’s uninsured and low-income residents.
The Community Health Hub, located in a 16,320-square-foot building near downtown Franklin, will provide comprehensive medical, dental, and behavioral health care, alongside domestic violence counseling, legal services, and community advocacy – all offered on a bilingual basis. This effort is directly inspired by unmet needs identified during community outreach, particularly exacerbated by the pandemic.
“We are immensely proud to partner with Vecinos on this transformative project that directly addresses critical health disparities in western North Carolina,” said Greg Page, Founder of Page Healthcare. “Our role as project manager for the Community Health Hub is a testament to our commitment to building healthier communities. We will leverage our expertise in strategic planning, complex financing, and meticulous project oversight to ensure this vital facility is delivered efficiently and effectively, becoming a cornerstone for coordinated, high-quality care for Vecinos’ neighbors.”
Marianne Martinez, Vecinos’ executive director, stated, “The uninsured and low-income population in western North Carolina, in particular the Spanish-speaking population, faces significant barriers to accessing health care. The Community Health Hub, with Page Healthcare’s development leadership, will allow our neighbors to conveniently receive coordinated and streamlined, high-quality services for free in their language.”
The project has secured a temporary bridge loan from Dogwood Health Trust to finance the building purchase, and a $8.6 million capital campaign is underway for renovations. Coalition partners, including Blue Ridge Free Dental Clinic, 30th Judicial District Domestic Violence-Sexual Assault Alliance, El Centro Comunitario of Macon County, and Asheville-based Pisgah Legal Services, will also utilize the hub.
The Community Health Hub is projected to open in the Summer of 2025, significantly expanding Vecinos’ capacity to serve an additional 2,000 patients annually beyond the 732 patients seen in 2021 at their current Cullowhee location.
